OZONE THERAPY
*Definition:-
Active oxygen molecule of three atoms in stead of stable molecule that consists of two oxygen atoms.
*First :what is the importance of oxygen?....
A-Energy source by causing aerobic metabolism to give energy and waste materials by oxidation.
…..sugar+o2_____co2 +ATP+water
that in case of sufficient oxygen amount..
If oxygen is insufficient so anaerobic metabolism take place….and waste materials are :
Co +lactic acid +ATP
These wastes difficult to body to excrete …..as lactic acid deposit around peripheral nerve root and cause compression on it leading to severe pain ….also accumulate around joints to cause degeneration.
Also CO cause toxicity due to it compete with o2 on Hb …and may cause senility..
Also disturbance of cell temperature and function may occur.
B-O2 causes stimulation of enzymatic coating around the cell to protect cell from invasion by micro organisms
C-oxygen disturb life of anaerobic micro organisms as it does not provide suitable environment to it.
D-If oxygen is less than 60% so predisposing cancer to affect cells..
As o2 stimulate enzyme to inhibit un desired duplication of cell..
*function of Ozone:-
-It is part of oxygen therapy
-It is a natural alternative medical therapy use ozone molecules for killing and detoxify any micro organisms
-It presents in upper Atmospheric layers …and can be produced artificially ..
-Since O3 is un stable molecule so it is easy to break third bond giving single active oxygen atom …..which combine with materials in body as micro organisms or drugs ..
((O2 can perform same function but weaker))
*Production of Ozone:-
A-Natural production.
B-Artificial production.

-O2 is produced by photo synthesis of green plants.
-Then it float as it is light gas in the atmosphere at stratosphere layer which lies at about 20__30 Km away.
-When it is exposed UVR at wave length 180__200 nm…..so it absorb energy so single orbital layers of it increase speed…so cause splitting of the two oxygen atoms.
-So the atoms become un stable and need to bond again ..so some bond as two atoms(O2) and others as three atoms(O3)….when o3 return back from stratosphere it lose energy in form of one oxygen atom at the blue wave length causing blue color of the sky.
*What destroy the o3?
-Freon….Chloroflorocarbon ((lighter gas)) as they float to upper atmosphere and react with oxygen((e.g :ozone hole))
*ozone is natural filtration against harm full UVR

**Physiological effects of ozone therapy:-
A-In activation of action of micro organisms….as it destruct outer shell layer of them and oxidate its lipoproteins & Phospho lipid after penetration of cell membrane ….then enter nucleus and alter the DNA…so inactivate them…then they are excreted by phagocytosis.
B-Improve circulation.
C-stimulate immunity system.
D-Desolution of malignant tumor
